Morning

For three months I had been painting the very same view nearly every morning. Each day I made four small sketches about a certain detail of our terrace and prepared a colour chart with the colours I had used on the sketches. I ended up with a lot of small pictures and one colour chart for each day. Based on these colour charts and using the sought-after and found colours (and only those!) I painted large pictures that I associated with the word ‘morning’ in my head. I only used the colours and lights which I had seen on the terrace between 5 February and 27 April 2018, between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
